The future is bright… the future is Green.

New man in the middle…

Foresters Brass 2000 are proud and privileged to welcome Alwyn Green to the centre spot as new musical director. After 5 weeks of auditions and many excellent candidates it was voted by the band that Al was going to be the one to take us forward in to 2010 and beyond. Alwyn's first challenge is to take the band to the Leicester contest with Christmas concerts to follow directly after!

About Alwyn…

Alwyn has played Trombone or Euphonium with almost all the top British Orchestras. In 1986 Simon Rattle invited him to take up a principal position in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, a seat he held for 22 years until retiring in 2008. Alwyn teaches at Birmingham University and the Birmingham Conservatoire. As a composer and arranger he undertakes regular commissions from the CBSO and other orchestras and bands. A number of his pieces have been broadcast, commercially recorded and published. Alwyn still regularly performs with the CBSO. He is also a founder member of the Palm Court Theatre Orchestra and the Prince of Wales Brass, and is founder member and musical director of the Berkley Salon Ensemble, Berkley Brass and the Berkley Street Dance Orchestra (all established CBSO offshoot groups).

Welcome…

Alwyn said he is delighted to be our new musical director and the band would like to welcome him warmly as the newest member of Foresters Brass 2000 and indeed Foresters Friendly Society as a whole.

Here’s to a new friendship!
