Area Success for Foresters Brass

On Sunday 10th March, Foresters Brass travelled to Bedworth to compete in the Midands Brass Band area contest in the Championship section thanks to our promotion from the first section last year. After a disappointing run of the test piece at Preston in January, we knew we had to improve during the coming months.

After a quick rehearsal and a not so quick but very motivational talk from musical director John Davis, I think I speak for the band here and say we all felt calm and confident... even after realising we were one band jacket short. We then found out we were drawn fourth and chairperson Steph made the joke "play fourth come fourth". In hindsight these were actually very wise words to go by! We came off stage feeling confident in our performance and headed to the bar as we waited for the results.

Waiting for results, I don't think anyone expected to hear our name called in the top 4. So, when we were called as 4th place, we definitly celebrated like we had won. All the hard work by John and the band has paid off and we have solidified our placing in the Midlands championship section. Time to celebrate!

We are now working on our concert programmes for our upcoming performances. Come and support the band at the following concerts:
