
Festivities for Foresters
This Sunday, October 1st, Foresters gear up for the Bolsover Festival of Brass. Following our outing to the National Finals in Cheltenham, the next engagement for the band is to revamp, regroup and deliver an entertainments programme to best our result from last year. Foresters Brass were awarded a commendable 2nd place in the 1st Section, also picking up the soloist prize for Rob Wilshaw's rendition of Georgia on my Mind, during last years performance. Draw Luck at the National Finals
On the weekend of the 16th and 17th of September, Foresters Brass took a well earned trip to Cheltenham and the National Finals of 1st to 4th Section bands as Champions of the 1st Section in the Midlands. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and checked in to our hotel before heading off to a local school hall to fit a rehearsal in. Part and parcel of meeting weekly with 25 different people is that there a lot of stories. Cue Marcie Williams, Foresters Brass Co-Principal Euphonium. Marcie began playing aged 8 in her hometown of Gosport, near Portsmouth. Moving to Nottingham University to study Medicine in September 2015, Marcie joined Foresters Brass just a month later. A Touch of Silver
Foresters Brass held the first of what we hope to be an annual event this weekend, where we were treated to an entertaining and engaging set by Corby Silver Band.
